Hello

Hyperglycemia

What is hyperglycemia?

Hyperglycemia means that there is too much sugar in the blood because the body lacks the insulin it needs (>180 mg/dl).

Signs & Symptoms

When blood sugar levels are high, individuals many experience frequent urination, increased thirst, blurred vision, fatigue and headache. If left untreated, it can progress to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

How does stress affect your glucose level?

Stress hormones have a large role to play on glucose levels. When someone is experiencing emotional or physical stress, their hormones, like adrenaline and cortisol, are being released and it increases their blood sugar.
